Where does the Bible say Adam or Eve were created a sociopath?
The fruit, does not need to be interpreted as gaining the ability to tell right from wrong. Actually it is unlikely to be understood that way, because God told them what not to do. Why would he tell them something, they were not able to take up mentally at all? Makes no sense.

More sense makes that EATING from the fruit meant to start making personal profit from the understanding of the difference of good and bad, instead of letting it grow ... what the animals don't do for example but humans started and what brought doom over them in many ways. Just my 2 cents ... ;)
