You email the whole office to say the fire alarm test is at 11. At 11 the alarm goes off. Nobody moves. One man puts on bigger headphones.

Why it caught on: in Jurassic Park (1993) Wayne Knight's Dennis Nedry, the park's programmer, shrugs off the warnings with "See? Nobody cares" while he switches off the security, and the shrug fits every announcement that expected applause and got the gravy.
