Sometimes the same person manages both before the kettle boils. **Why it caught on:** the picture is a plain dark navy square with no subject at all, and on Meme Generator it became the default home for posts that are only words: quotes, rants, one-line gags and the odd "Black Sea" pun. It spread because it asks for nothing, with no template to learn and no face to match, so anyone with a thought and a keyboard could use it.
