Why it caught on: at the end of Doctor Strange (2016) Strange flies into the Dark Dimension, traps himself and Dormammu in a time loop, and keeps arriving with the same line - "Dormammu, I've come to bargain" - each time he's killed, until Dormammu gives up. Persistence by sheer repetition is something everyone has tried on a call centre.
